Exotics of Hong Kong
70th Anniversary of Ferrari
It was forecast to rain all day Sunday, but after hearing about a huge Ferrari event that was taking place, I wasn’t going to miss it for the world. My fellow car spotters and I all gathered in Central, where the cars were due to have a photoshoot. As the gleaming vehicles arrived one by one, some spotters perched in bushes, others stood on a nearby footbridge, and some gathered on the side of the road. Morgan and I were the earliest to arrive so we must have been waiting for about an hour and a half before the cars showed up. Once the cars started to pour into Central, so did the rain. At that point I couldn’t care less about the weather, as I was so excited to see 20+ Ferraris at one place at one time.
The first group arrived and parked behind the General Post Office on Connaught Road for their photoshoot. My car spotting friends and I ran around frantically to get into position – an exceptionally difficult task, as Sundays in Central are really busy. However, it was all worth it; watching these Ferraris cruise down the wet roads of Central was a wonderful sight, and at that point I was kind of glad it was raining, as it was more atmospheric than a dry, sunny day would have been. Once we were done taking photos, the cars left to make way for another fleet of Ferraris.
As the second group was going to stay for a longer shoot, I took the opportunity to find shelter from the rain, dry my camera, and admire some of the shots I’d taken. This is going to be one of those Sundays that really stays with me because it was just amazing seeing so many Ferraris cruising through our beautiful city centre despite the terrible weather. It was also heartening to see so many people out to spot these cars, and the passion that they have for these striking automobiles.
