Exotics of Hong Kong
Hypercar Sunday
As much as we might try, it’s sometimes not possible to spend every Sunday carspotting. This Sunday Jonny took some time for a much needed lie in and I took over for the day. And what a day it was.
Upon arrival I was jealous of Jonny being in bed as it was cold, raining, foggy and windy. As I was by myself I perched myself on rock somewhere along Shek O road and waited. In that time the regular morning drivers drove past and I snapped some mediocre fog shots until this beast came up. The first on roads in Hong Kong the Aston Martin GT8 is a race car built for the road doing away with the standard AM ethos by having wings and other aerodynamic enhancements
From then I got picked up by a fellow car spotter and was driven to Central as we heard that there was a group of Hypercars out. A speedy run with no traffic meant we made it to central in 22 minutes and were able to perch ourselves in the Shun Tak Centre car park. We waited and waited until suddenly the matte black shape of the extremely rare Lamborghini Murcielago SV. The convoy had arrived. Suddenly in short succession 2 Pagani Huayra’s, a Mclaren 570S and Huracan flew past along the motorway.
With everyone going home I stayed with a few people in Central just in case these cars happened to come out again, but we then received a call saying that a very special one-off hypercar was parked somewhere in Central, so the hunt began. After an extremely tense 15 minute walk we arrived to see the Gumpert Apollo N parked on the side of the road just like any other normal car. After photographing it for about 2 hours the owner arrived showing off the gullwing doors and driving off into the distance.
